When we started this journey 2 ½ months ago, time and opportunity seemed limitless. It’s no
longer that way, and we are now making plans for our final days – the last long ride, the last
group ride, the last free day. Crossing into New Brunswick seems to have been the impetus
since it is the start of the Maritime provinces, our last region.
Our cycle today – 116 km – seems arduous; no doubt a hangover from yesterday’s long ride –
everything comes at a cost. This is the first time in a long time that Jim and I just want to just
get there.
We hug the St. John river, with the United States occupying the opposing bank.
Once in Edmuston, we follow a recommendation to the Pirate restaurant for lobster rolls. This is
NB traditional fast food and delicious, albeit without classy lobster bibs.
It is starting to get colder at night and in the morning. We have had campfires the last few nights
and we gather close. We also just crossed into a new time zone, so nights are dark fast.
Will we get to Newfoundland before the cold turns us back? Stay tuned.
